Plastic Surgery Dangers
Plastic surgery is seen by many as a part of modern-day society. It seems to be an up-and-coming trend among women and men of all ages (mainly the former), and some people go under the knife without questioning their own safety when it comes to the procedure that’s about to transpire. While it is true that plastic surgery is, for the most part, a safe procedure, there are some dangers associated with it. No matter how rare they are, it’s always best to take a look and see what you might be up against.
Plastic surgery incidents can be caused by a variety of things. They can be caused by human error (malpractice lawsuits do exist, nobody can deny that), the patient growing after the surgery (which makes it more of a risk to minors), anesthetics used and a number of other things. When you undergo plastic surgery, you’re putting yourself at risk, but saying that you shouldn’t do it because of the risk is arbitrary, as anything actually happening is uncommon, plus, it would be like saying that you shouldn’t drive for the same reason. Most things in life do carry at least a certain degree of associated risk to your well being, you just have to decide if the ends justify the means.
Nerve damage is something you will want to look out for. With proper post-procedure care, this, and most other risks, is avoidable, but it is still something you want to take into consideration. Nerve damage could create a loss of feeling or movement in an area and is pretty severe. Other risks with plastic surgery go anywhere from a small scar (which will most likely be barely visible and covered up), to bleeding and infections (telltale signs of an infection are feelings of weakness and an increase in temperature). There are a lot of things to look out for. It’s a good idea to check out your physician’s track record and maybe ask around before deciding to go with the procedure.
Risks vary from procedure to procedure, and also between each person. A big risk with Botox is an allergic reaction. When it comes to breast augmentation, you face problems of a misconceived end result, more surgery and stretched skin. With rhinoplasty, you face the dangers of a doctor overdoing it, which can lead to your nose collapsing, or you could vomit blood. All of these risks are pretty uncommon, but there is a possibility of it happening to you.
No matter what your current medical condition is, no matter what experiences you’ve had in the past, you are always at risk when you go under the knife. One thing to always remember is, no matter what, to always tell your physician the truth. Even if lying will work out positively now, you could face the consequences in the future.
